Are there reduced tickets to the Acropolis?

Yes, the Acropolis offers various opportunities for free and reduced admissions. These initiatives make visiting one of Greece's most iconic landmarks more accessible to a diverse group of visitors throughout the year.

There are specific days in which the visit to the Acropolis is free, and there are several categories that can benefit from reductions and free entries. Read further down for a comprehensive list.

Please note: every reduction and free entry has to be supported by appropriate documentation (most often ID card or passport, or disability certificate. How to get free tickets

Free tickets for children can be booked online alongside regular tickets, while free tickets for any other category must be obtained directly at the ticket booths on the day of the visit.

Free admission days

There are several free admission days throughout the year, for which tickets cannot be booked online but have to be obtained at the booths:

- 6 March (in memory of Melina Mercouri)

- 18 April (International Monuments Day)

- 18 May (International Museums Day)

- The last weekend of September annually (European Heritage Days)

- 28 October

- The first Sunday of the month from November to March

Age categories

Children and young people up to the age of 25, from EU member-states and children up to the age of 5, from non-European Union countries. Persons over 25 years, being in secondary education and in vocational schools from EU member-states.

School visits

Escorting teachers during educational visits of schools and institutions of primary, secondary and tertiary education from EU member-states.

People with disabilities

Persons with disabilities and one escort (only in the case of 67% disability), irrespective of the country of origin, upon presentation of their ID card or passport and Disability Certificate.

Members of specific organizations

Free entry is granted to journalists, members of ICOM and ICOMOS, licensed scientists, members of specific Greek organizations and also refugees.

Reduced tickets

Age categories

Children and young people aged between 6 and 25 years, from non-European Union countries and senior citizens over 65 from Greece or other EU member-states and the European Economic Area.

School visits

Parents accompanying primary education schools visits from EU member-states and the European Economic Area and escorting teachers of educational visits of schools and institutions of primary, secondary and tertiary education from non European Union countries.
